Riverside North. A once in a generation opportunity. A fantastic concept just let down in the detail of the design. Did you know it was approved by just one vote by the planning committee.
This is a fantastic location, and the businesses that have opened up here are great and get a lot of support from residents. However, there are so many empty units still years later. Why is this? I truly believe that we currently have a leader that isn’t interested in the detail.
Look at the bridge - not the one that was originally approved but it was installed anyway and is nothing like what we thought we were getting. Looked at the design road side - I remember residents coming to full council to ask if the design could be in keeping with our Victorian Town heritage and were ignored. Look at the number of empty units, the broken lights……. this isn’t good enough for the centre of our borough when it has the opportunity to be absolutely amazing.
Bedford deserves better and I believe this will only happen with a new Mayor.
